while I had already been experimenting with different ideas for the Busta Rhymes mega hit & Hip Hop classic, 1997's “Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See”, I was actually thinking of using the vocals of another Hip Hop song, and was going through a number of them, but I think by taking a break from it–when the MJ/Kool & the Gang idea hit me–that my brain subconsciously stayed focused on MJ which then made me wonder if any other songs of his could fit that iconic beat of Busta's track? The first one I had thought of, because it's getting close to Halloween (though I actually don't even celebrate or participate in any activities related to it), is–of course–"Thriller", which is the go-to song for most Halloween parties and parades around the globe on that day…but the only thing is that it doesn't fit with the other song, especially because the Busta song stays constant in one key, while “Thriller” only stays constant in the verses and main chorus, but there's a a few very crazy chord changes in the pre-chorus and what not, and even vocally, it's doesn't rhythmically gel for me as I would need it to.

But then, because “Thriller”' has a dark, bluesy/boogie sound and vibe to it, that's when “Bad” finally came to mind, and so I did my music superpower thing of connecting the dots and arranging the song in my head first to see if it fit before actually doing it, physically. Turns out that “Bad” fit damn near perfectly with the Busta song EXCEPT in the chord changes that happen in the pre-chorus of “Bad” every single time, and since I didn't have the original separate tracks/stems for the Busta song (which is easier than saying that mouthful of a title lol), I did some improvising and managed to create a believable enough transition that sounded like it was originally a part of the song. And, of course, I had to slow down MJ's vocals (from 114 to 109 bpm) and pitch his vocals one semi-tone or half-step down (and then tune it slightly up) to match the Busta instrumental, because Michael also sang it slightly higher than the standard music tuning of 441 MHz (yes, these remixes are way more technical than simply putting one song on top of another 😉) . And this time I decided to actually play some keys with soulful, minor/dissonant electronic synth chords that compliment the very bluesy and smokey vibe MJ's vocals have for “Bad”, that turns that Hip Hop track into something familiar yet very unique as well, but still groovy and head-boppin' throughout, nonetheless.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy it as much as I really enjoyed making it and the one before it, and thank you for those who have already downloaded the previous one and will download this one as well. They are always free to download, but to those who add a donation upon checkout, thank you so much, as always, for your kind generosity in supporting the hard work I put into these remixes and original songs that I am honored to share whatever small percentage of people across the globe who actually appreciate and enjoy what I have been blessed to offer you! 😌🙏🏾 The gift of music and sharing it is really amazing and I'm so very grateful to do so!

Lyrics

Ah, your butt is mine, gon' tell you right, ah
Just show your face in broad daylight, ah
I'm tellin' you on who I feel, ah
Gonna hurt your mind, don't shoot to kill
Shamone, ah, shamone
Lay it on me, ah, alright
Ah, I'm givin' you on count to three, ah
Just show your stuff or let it be, ah
I'm tellin' you, just watch your mouth, ah
I know your game, what you're about
Well, they say the sky's the limit
And to me that's really true, ah
But, my friend, you have seen nothin'
Just wait 'til I get through
Because I'm bad, I'm bad, shamone (bad, bad, really, really bad)
You know I'm bad, I'm bad (bad, bad)
You know it (really, really bad)
You know I'm bad, I'm bad (bad, bad)
Shamone, you know (really, really bad)
And the whole world has to answer right now
Just to tell you once again
Who's bad?
The word is out, you're doin' it wrong, ah
Gon' lock you up before too long, ah
Your lyin' eyes gon' tell you right, ah
So listen up, don't make a fight, ah
Your talk is cheap, you're not a man, ah
You're throwin' stones to hide your hands
Well, they say the sky's the limit
And to me that's really true, ah
But, my friend, you have seen nothin'
Just wait 'til I get through
Because I'm bad, I'm bad, shamone (bad, bad, really, really bad)
You know I'm bad, I'm bad (bad, bad)
You know it (really, really bad)
You know I'm bad, I'm bad (bad, bad)
You know it, you know (really, really bad)
And the whole world has to answer right now
Just to tell you once again
Who's bad?
We can change the world tomorrow
This could be a better place, ah
If you don't like what I'm sayin'
Then won't you slap my face?
Because I'm bad, I'm bad, shamone (bad, bad, really, really bad)
You know I'm bad, I'm bad (bad, bad)
You know it (really, really bad)
You know I'm bad, I'm bad (bad, bad)
You know it, you know (really, really bad)
And the whole world has to answer right now (hoo, hoo)
Just to tell you once again (hoo)
You know I'm bad, I'm bad, shamone (bad, bad, really, really bad)
You know I'm bad, I'm bad (bad, bad)
You know it, you know it (really, really bad)
You know, you know (bad, bad)
You know, shamone (really, really bad)
And the whole world has to answer right now
Just to tell you once again
You know I'm smooth, I'm bad, you know it (bad, bad, really, really bad)
You know I'm bad, I'm bad (bad, bad, really, really bad)
You know, you know, you know it, come on (bad, bad, really, really bad)
And the whole world has to answer right now (hoo)
Just to tell you once again (hoo)
You know I'm bad, I'm bad, you know it (bad, bad, really, really bad)
You know I'm bad, you know, woo (bad, bad, really, really bad)
You know I'm bad, I'm bad (bad, bad)
You know it, you know (really, really bad)
And the whole world has to answer right now
Just to tell you once again
Who's bad?
